Description:

Description:

A pair of handguns commissioned by Lorenzo Schrödinger, they are a pair of Linear Accelerator Weapons. Built in with numerous limiters, the basic operation is that the weapon draws power from Mr. Schrödinger, powering the onboard computer and sends power into a bank of capacitors underneath the weapon. In one full charge, the weapon can fire a .32 inch ball bearing at speeds approaching 150 m/s depending on windage, elevation, and the projectile's specifications.

Numerous limiters are built into the weapon to keep it from being lethal, and limiters are only disabled by use of a specialized key. This though can still make it lethal due to the skill of the operator, and there is a built in I.D. that only accepts a signal from an embedded implant located in Mr. Schrödinger's shoulder. Any other electromancer using this weapon or in the event the I.D. system is disabled, the limiters will not be able to be disabled.

Three metallic plates cover the grip, acting not only as grip safeties, these are the conduits that are used to make contact with the user and charge the weapon. Other than that, a simple ramrod acts as the bolt, pushing a ball bearing into the firing chamber. Non-magnetic composite materials are mechanically attached to the trigger, and releases the ball bearing as well as activating the rail. The ball bearing is pushed down the barrel by the magnetic force.

There are two rails and one barrel, a rail on both top and bottom of the gun, a composite, non-ferrous tube is the barrel of the weapon. Afterwards, releasing the trigger returns the clamp, as well as activating the bolt to go back and extracts another ball bearing from the magazine.

Introduction:

A counterpart to the RNA Leviathan (now known as the pirate vessel The Black Regis), the Neustrashimyy was built independently of the Leviathan and due to the fractious nature of relations between Zakythos and Deist, very little was to be shared between them in this project.

An innovation in design, most of the naval vessels were built around wooden frames and hulls, vastly increasing their cost and time to be built. Differing from this, the Neutrashimyy class was built from steel, which had become more commonplace and cheaper to produce due to the use of Song-Hebei Steel.

Heavily armed, it features a an outer hull of Yev-Rah/Kuruppo Cemented Armor and the superstructure is angled, featuring a mirrored tumblehome design. It also contains three revolving turrets that are powered, as well as two non-gun turrets which house the observation platform for the targeting crews. Two turrets up front places with one, two-gun turret on the main deck, a single gun turret on the top of the superstructure, and another two-gun turret in the rear.

It features two masts as well as low-slung funnels which vent exhaust over a series of exhaust vents located to the bottom and sides of the aft area, located past the aft turret.

Hull Description and Construction:

Main Hull:
Unlike most Naval vessels, which features a slightly curving hull along the lenght of the hull, the Neutrashimyy was completely level, starting from its bow and terminating in the shielded pusher-propellers in the rear. Its hull design is also irregularly shaped, due to the use of more malleable steel frames, gave it an odd design. The bow is similar to a straight plow, starting from a rounded, hardened section at the keel, and then having a knife-like edge at the unnaturally straight edge, this pointed bow would soon quickly terminate into a gradually bulbous hull, as if a cylinder was cut in half lengthwise and separated a few meters apart. The space between the two bulbous sides of the hull would form the main deck.

The entire hull construction was that the frame and keel were built first, the levistone used to make the vessel float forming the integral part of the lower hull. The increased space done by revolutionary advances in metal-based naval architecture. Bulkheads seperated the decks, and much of the machinery has been centralized, located just slightly aft of the center of the ship. The bulkheads separating the decks and hull into compartments, as well as the steel frame design, outer steel skin and steel armor, provided more than adequate protection. Underneath the turret superstructure, was a reinforced box going 3 decks deep, containing the ammunition and shells for the weapons, already protected on either side by bulkheads and armor, the magazine is also a frame for a set of carved levistones, meticulously carved pieces of slab that provides additional buoyancy.

In the midsection of the vessel, on either side, a 10 meter long wing would protude from the hull, containing a ducted propeller blade. The shaft would be located within the 'wing' before passing into a gear box, where it would turn another shaft containing at first, a larger and low pressure propeller, and further down the line, a smaller and higher pressure propeller fan. The duct provides additional thrust by ducting the air into a exhaust nozzle smaller than the intake of the duct, thus propelling capture air faster out the rear. Located at the midpoint between the hull and duct, would be a large rudder, protuding above, below, and behind the wing, it would help in steering.

At the rear, the hull would taper into a mixed cross type point. The cylinder hull would taper into a flat point, but the ship itself would also narrow, forming the main rudder. At the ends of the flat point, larger ducts containing the main propeller system would be housed. It is also here that in armored containers, the water for the steam boilers, ether for the fuel, and other such storage would be kept, armor at the bottom of this part of the hull would be the thinnest. The exhaust opening for the drive plant would be located here as well.

Introduction:

The Neutrashimyy is an experimental class of aerosailer that was commissioned by members of the nobility that call themselves as part of the Aether Kriegführung Schule. There are considerable members, representing Gaea, Zakythos, and Deist. The age of Aerosailing had begun, and already dispute is happening towards what, if any, position should the newly formed Royal Fleet should do.

Gaea proposed lightly armed merchantmen that put a premium on cargo and passenger space, to increase the flow of goods and to provide a steady trade within the three floating islands, as well as continuing expeditions away from the main group of Islands. Zakythos and Deist though, were still fuming over their split in progressive ideology. One can say that the Zakythoans were more conservative, much more willing to stick to 'magic' as it was known. The manipulation of aether and the elements, to do one's bidding. The Deists were more willing to work magic into a new field of science, where the systematic knowledge-base or prescriptive practice is done to achieve a prediction or predictable type of outcome. They relied less on the old chants and musty books than more technical know how and brute strength of the forge.

It is from this situation that the Island ships came from. The boom in Aerosailers also brought about the new age of piracy. Stolen merchantmen, barely safe home-mades, and rogue lower nobility had formed a subculture on their own. Modeled after old Earth pirates, these plundered, stole, and sank any in their way. To combat this, the Royal Fleet would commission more vessels, a fleet per island being the goal. As such, each Island took it upon itself to create their prized vessels.

The first was the Icarus. Built by Gaeans, it is the flagship of the Royal Army, a massive vessel capable of beating into submission any pirate vessel within range of its cannons. There are reports that it occasionally goes rogue. The second, was the Leviathan, built by Zakythos with help from Deist, was captured and is now The Black Regis, a feared mostly-chimera pirate crew.

Deist's contribution was supposed to be the Leviathan, but with its capture, the master shipwrights and mages conferred with themselves. At this point, the Deist members of the Aether Kriegführung Schule stepped in. They proposed a new vessel, different from the Leviathan, in which the very best of Deist ingenuity and weaponry would be placed. It would feature mainly trivial main masts, new designs in cannon and emplacements, and steel armor tougher than anything ever conceived.

And so, Deist goes to produce the third of the newest flagships of the fleet, the HMNS (His Majesty's Navy Ship) Neutrashimyy.

Basic Features:

At 116 meters long, she is the third largest vessel in the fleet. Having a beam of 17.5 meters and a draft of 3.7 meters, she is still narrow enough to achieve greater speeds than her larger hulled broadsider sisters. Classified as an AeroSailer, she seems to be an enlarged frigate, minus the broadside armament.

She sports four turrets. The main forward turret located on the main deck sporting two long cannons with 240* of transverse from port to starboard. Located in the middle of the ship, in a recess, is a single one gun turret. Its location and shape of the superstructure allows the turret to be able to fire forward, side, and back in a 120* transverse angle for each gun, each turret contains only one cannon. The rear turret contains a single cannon. All cannons are of 20.3cm in diameter.

Her hull is made of steel with steel plates, and is held aloft via the combined lift strength of two levstones that had been joined together. She features a large rudder in the rear, with four sets of push-pull propellers, that had been shrouded in steel and containing flaps that provides some roll characteristics. This is further helped by two fins just set behind the mid point of the vessel, which aids the rudder and flaps in turning the vessel.

Her superstructure is centralized into a slanted design made of 3 inches thick hardened steel armor, with the bridge set on what can be described as a tall, steel bunker or castle's keep set on top of the second deck behind the second turret. Two relatively short masts, one set behind the bridge and one set behind the funnels contain crows nests and a yard in the event the need to use sails occurs. The rear deck is dominated by the rear turret, providing it a nearly unobstructed view.

Hull Construction:

An inner steel shell on which spacers space the outer hull/armor from the inner hull by 10 centimeters. This is pumped with inert gaseous chemicals and is subdivided into sections. The inert gas helps retard any flammable components of enemy shells and protect against static buildup from cruising in the Ether stream.

Inside, the ship is subdivided into compartments which help divide the lower 4 decks. The design of the two leveled superstructure is of a large building which runs expands through the mid-point of the ship, with slanted armor that ends at the edge of the deck, providing an almost seamless joining of the sides of the hull with the superstructure in some areas.

The command bridge is set on a large, pyramidal tower which provides an unimpeded view of the surroundings. The funnels where excess steam and fuel vapors are taken from the center of the ship to the outside is only slightly higher than the command tower, and covered in armor.

Powerplant:

Four Aether-Burning Multiple Expansion, Stream Turbine Engines provided a combined 60,000 shaft horse power rating. This gives the Neutrashimyy a rather fast speed of 28.4 knots, a mere knot or two behind the captured Leviathan.

Armor and Armament:

• Main Armament: 20.3cm Main Guns at 12.150 meters in overall length. (tip the barrel to the recoil and breech mechanism). Held in place on large carriages and employing an oleo-pneumatic recoil system. Elevated via the use of gears.
• Yev-Rah-Kuruppo Cemented Armor: The hardest and strongest type of armor. An inch of this is comparable to 10 inches of standard comparable armor. Manufactured by the best armor smiths of Deist and imbued with enchantments from mages. Contact with Aether only increases the protective capabilities of this armor, to the point that the standard 4 inch plate used as the standard armor on the Neutrashimmy is comparable to 40 inches of steel plating of normal steel. This comes at a high costs, but not weight, as the enchantments done by Mages from Zakythos also includes a speel that lightens the plates.
